6:30PM
A warm welcome to Tuscany with a private tour of Pieve di Sant‘Appiano.

Pieve di Sant‘Appiano, is one of the oldest surviving Christian Churches in Tuscany. It is an 8th century complex next to which two Etruscan chamber tombs have been unearthed at Podere Piazza.

The facade of Castello di Pastine, its cypress way and its primo terrazzo are oriented to directly align with Pieve di Sant‘Appiano. Interestingly, the chamber tombs at Podere Piazza were constructed using exactly the same construction technique as the Etruscan cellars at Castello di Pastine.

Then join us for aperitivo and dinner under the Tuscan sun at Lisette and Andrew’s favourite local, Osteria L’Antica Quercia.

Enjoy gelato and refreshments on arrival at Bar Gelateria Enoteca before heading on a short introductory private tour of San Gimignano with 'Lisette & Andrew Tour Guides'.

San Gimignano (Italian for St. Geminianus) is a small walled medieval hill town in the province of Siena, Tuscany. Known as the Town of Fine Towers, San Gimignano is famous for its medieval architecture, unique in the preservation of about a dozen of its tower houses, which, with its hilltop setting and encircling walls, form an unforgettable skyline. It is these towers that form part of the stunning view enjoyed from the southern terrace at Castello di Pastine.

Within the walls, the well-preserved buildings include notable examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The Palazzo Comunale, the Collegiate Church and Church of Sant’ Agostino contain frescoes dating from the 14th and 15th centuries.

The historic centre of San Gimignano is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. For foodies, the town also is known for saffron, the Golden Ham, pecorino cheese and its white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, produced from the ancient variety of Vernaccia grape that is grown on the sandstone hillsides of the area.
